"Hi Brother xxxxxxxx,
My name is Nathan Willie, I'm 18 and I attend the YSA ward of Santa Clara Xth in Eugene,
OR and it has always been a dream of mine to visit the east coast. I considered a few
other parts of the east first, and concluded that I wanna go to Massachusetts! I don't
start school at BYU-I till January and so I thought, "hey Nathan! wouldn't it be a
great experience to live on the east coast for a few months till you had to go to
college?" and I responded back to myself in the affirmative and thought it'd be a
great chance to practice meeting new people and living in a new place without much, for
my mission. I turn 19 in March, but I'll still be in school till July '09. I currently
work at office max here in Eugene and I could easily transfer to a store in
Massachusetts. Either the one in Dorchester, Everette, or Braintree. (or really any
Office Max).
Anyways, sorry for the long introduction/explanation. The purpose of this e-mail is to
request your help finding a place to stay in one of these areas or Boston/Cambridge. I've
looked on the "unofficial LDS housing for Boston area" and there wasn't any
listings that i could see that worked right. (either too far away, or way too much rent,
or not the right timing). I was wondering if you knew of some cheap apartments or
something that I could stay at from the first week in September till mid-way through
December. Or (and actually more preferred) I was wondering if you knew of a good family
in the ward that has a child just heading off to college in September, and then they'd
have an extra room in their house.
I'm really neat and clean and respectable. I'd be working quite a bit, and when I wasn't
working I'd be seeing the sights! So it's not like I'd be at the house/apartment a whole
lot. I'd only have a big suitcase and a backpack (because that's all I'd be able to take
with me on the plane). and so I really wouldn't take up a whole lot of space.
I'm preparing for my mission. Getting myself back in the habit of reading my scriptures
daily and praying morning and night. In my past I've done things that weren't 100% in
accordance with the church, but not any more. I have repented of those things and only
mention it to try and further prove the point that I really am a good kid and (not being
conceited one bit) I think that any family or roommate would be happy to have me around.
(If you'd really like it, I could even get a couple letters of recommendation). And when
I find myself in the area I'd love it to start taking classes at the institute and
attending church and all the fun young single adults things that are offered.
Wow. This e-mail was longer than I'd thought. If you've gone this far reading without
falling asleep or thinking "Psh this kid is crazy" Then i congratulate you.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read it and respond back to me with any
information that you might have that could help me out.
So, once again. This is Nathan. I am from Oregon, and I'm planning on living in the
Boston/Cambridge area Sept-Mid December and need your help finding a place to stay. I got
your number (no answer two days in a row) and your e-mail address from a nice lady that i
talked to on the phone with a while from the institute (I think) who's number I got
offline as one of the closest institutes in the area that I'd be going to, and she
referred me to talk to you.
Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear back from you soon!
